Earl Pearson Jr. Finishes 8th at Eldora Speedway''s Dream 100, Heads to Wisconsin for Several Events
Dunn, NC (June 13, 2006)- Earl Pearson Jr. and the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team competed at the famous Eldora speedway this past weekend in the Dream 100. Earl was able to set the 28th quickest qualifying lap out of 148 cars entered for the event. Earl would finish a solid second place in his heat race to earn a 10th starting position for the 100-lap feature event that paid $100,000 to win.
Earl and the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team made a few adjustments before the feature hoping to find the right chassis setup for the big ½ mile track that would propel him to the front and possibly into the top 5 at the finish. Unfortunately the track conditions were not very racy and extremely hard to pass throughout much of the 100-lap event. Earl was able to finish in the top ten with a 8th place finish after 100 laps. "Its good to get another top ten finish here for the second year in a row, but we were really hoping to be in contention to win. The track took rubber and it was very hard to pass after that. The high side just had to much momentum to do much passing, but anytime you can make the starting field and get a top ten finish is a big accomplishment with the number of quality drivers that come to Eldora", stated Earl.
The Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team are preparing for several events this week in the state of Wisconsin. Earl will travel to Menomonie, WI for a WDRL Sanctioned event on Wednesday June 14th. The 50-lap feature event will pay $5,000 to the winner at the Red Cedar Speedway. From there the teams plans are tentative but possibly will enter the WDRL sanctioned event on Thursday June 15th at Superior Speedway for another $5,000 to win 50-lap feature event based on what happens the previous night. Then on Friday and Saturday June 16-17 Earl and the team will compete in this years "Masters" at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond WI. Friday and Saturday events will each be 50-lap events paying $10,000 to the winner each night. Both events will be Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt series sanctioned events. Earl currently has a 35-point lead over second place Don O''Neal for the series National Championship in 2006 and has one win on the series this year.
